QUINTON, the five-string violin : well appreciated among jazz, country, fusion players, and also among improvisers. My 'custom' quinton for pros and enlightened amateurs owns an extra C string, like the bass on a viola.
#03 is currently available to purchase and ready to play, and the price makes it very affordable: CHF 1800.- (approx. $ 1'800,00).
I also make instruments on demand with your owns specs and options (custom finish, mecanic pegs, hypoallergénic chin-rest, inlays & design, etc.).
All are ready to play, with fine setup and hi-tech parts:
*5 ebony friction pegs, or mecanic pegs with a classic look (ebony) by Pegheads® ou Wittwer®
* Despiau/LR Baggs® bridge with integrated piezo cell, Carpenter mono jack1/4'; a Fishman V-200 Classic may be set up instead.
*5 string tailpiece, black cast aluminium by Thomastik, with integrated tuners. Ebony button.
*Ebony chin-rest 1st-class by Gewa, nickel brackets (or hypoallergénic Wittwer©)
*1st class ebony fingerboard, extra-wide; space between strings is similar to four string instruments.
*'Grande Lutherie' alcohol based shellac varnish, antique amber appearance, or maybe black satin/glossy modern nitro-cellulosic, or any other colour you like best. The selected nitrocellulosic finish do not degrade the natural sound of the instrument.
*Nut is ebony, bone is an option.
